US Marshals arrest man involved in shooting

US Marshals have arrested a man who was involved in a shooting last week at Central and Tingsley.

Rufus Phelps was arrested Thursday afternoon near Central and Cornell while sitting in a car waiting for an order of pizza. Phelps was taken into custody without incident.

Deputy Marshals had tried to arrest Phelps last Friday at Central and Tingley but was able to escape.

Phelps was wanted on a bench warrant issued for his arrest. A grand jury indicted Phelps last September, charging him with Aggravated Assault Against a Household Member (Deadly Weapon), Aggravated Assault (Deadly Weapon), Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Device by a Felon, Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony-Narcotic Drug), Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon (Discharge).
