It's all laughter and smiles now for Roger "John" Houghton and his daughter Nancy, who lives in Indiana. They got to meet the people who helped them become reunited once again.
"I can't say enough to thank them all," she said.
The people she's thanking are member of the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office and New Mexico State Police.
Both agencies immediately stepped into action when it was discovered Houghton had disappeared from his North Valley home.
"We had a gentleman who was 87-years-old missing for a few days and definitely needed to start a Silver Alert to help find him, which was issued on Saturday," said BCSO deputy Josh Hessinger.
The very next day, State Police found Houghton on a dirt road near Socorro.
What could've turned into a tragic story ended up becoming a happy ending thanks to the work of those who serve and protect
Houghton's daughter says that he will be moving with her to Indiana and he now has a cell phone so that something like this doesn't happen again.
