1 dead after truck strikes power pole in SW Albuquerque

The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department says one person was killed after a truck crashed into a power pole in southwest Albuquerque on Saturday morning.

The crash took place on Coors Boulevard SW just south of Gun Club Road around 7 a.m.

According to Sgt. Aaron Williamson, a male passenger, 22-year-old Kenneth Martinez, was pronounced dead on scene. The female driver was hospitalized at UNM Hospital for her injuries. Her identity has not been released at this time.

Coors was shut down for a few hours after the crash while PNM repaired the power pole.

Police are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
