New Mexico State Police say Search and Rescue crews found the body of a missing hiker in the Sandia Mountains on Sunday.

Osvaldo Defalco, 71, of Austin, Texas, was reported missing on Tuesday. He was hiking alone.

His family told police he planned to hike part of the way down from the crest one day and then finish the hike to the bottom the next.

Search and Rescue crews searched the Sandia Mountains on Thursday and Friday with no luck.

On Sunday, crews focused the search to a particular area and located Defalco's body around 10:30 a.m.

The official cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
