Another UNM football player has been named as a suspect in the investigation into the rape of a University of New Mexico student.

A UNM spokesperson confirmed with KOB Eyewitness News 4 that SaQwan Edwards is the third suspect.

It is unknown if Edwards is currently in custody. Police obtained a warrant for Edwards' DNA Friday.

UNM running back Crusoe Gongbay has already been charged with two counts of second degree sexual penetration in the case, as has former student Ryan Ruff.

UNM head football coach Bob Davie released the following statement Monday evening:

"As this is an ongoing process, we cannot comment on any specifics of the investigation.  We are continuing to monitor the situation and will take appropriate action at the right time.  We will continue to cooperate fully and we encourage anyone with information to call the UNM Police hotline."
