The lawyer for a second UNM football player arrested in connection to a rape case says he has forensic evidence that will clear his client.

The comment was made during SaQwan Edwards' court appearance on Wednesday. His attorney did not elaborate on the evidence any further.

Edwards, teammate Crusoe Gonbay and former student Ryan Ruff are all accused of raping a female UNM student.

Police say all three forced themselves on the student in a car and took turns raping her.

Edwards and Gongbay have been suspended from Lobo football until the investigation is complete.

It could take weeks or months as a state crime lab analyzes a rape kit and DNA.
