Albuquerque police are on the hunt for a gunman who shot a man several times before stealing his car.

The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. at a CVS parking lot near Eubank and Menaul.

Officers responding to the scene found the victim with gunshot wounds to his chest. Investigators said the man ran into the store for help after he was shot and the suspect sped away in his car. At last check, police said the victim was listed in stable condition.

The victim's car, a 2000 red Mercedes with custom rims, was later found abandoned near Claremont and Candelaria, according to APD.

Police do not have a detailed description of the shooter but are dusting the victim’s car for fingerprints.
