Could New Mexico be the new home of the Tesla Motors battery factory? The answer could come as early as Wednesday afternoon during Tesla's first quarter results webcast.
Analysts expect Tesla to narrow their decision down to just two states. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said he wants to break ground at the two final sites before choosing the ultimate winner just in case they run into any issues with one of the sites.
The company is looking for a place to build their new battery plant. New Mexico is one four states in the running. Nevada, Texas and Arizona are also vying for the spot.
The plant would employ around 6,500 people.
KOB Eyewitness News 4's partners at Albuquerque Business First report that local officials have been tightlipped about what incentives they're offering if New Mexico is picked.
