A judge on Friday denied a New Mexico woman's request to reduce her sentence for a deadly drunk driving crash.
Stephanie Mendez was driving drunk in 2011 when she crashed into a car and killed two people. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Today, Mendez asked the judge to reduce her term to 12 years in prison and five years of probation.
The judge denied that motion.
"The message across today is how crucial drunk driving is and it's not to be taken lightly," said Cynthia Esquibel, a family member of one of the victims.
