Albuquerque area firefighters were busy Saturday afternoon battling several fires all over the metro.

One fire started around 12:45 p.m. at Irving near Golf Course. Fire crews found smoke coming from an apartment when they arrived. They had the fire under control in 12 minutes.

The fire did leave one family without a place to live, but firefighters were able to rescue dogs from inside the apartment.

Crews then made their way to another fire at a home near the Bosque off Fourth Street around 1:45 p.m. Bernalillo County firefighters say it was a trash fire that spread to the garage. No one was injured there.

Around the same time, Albuquerque firefighters went to an elderly living facility off 18th Street. People inside the facility reported smelling smoke.

Fire crews say a burning light bulb creating the smoke. The residents were evacuated and were allowed back in 20 minutes later.
