As the Signal Fire continues to burn in the Gila National Forest, the New Mexico State Forestry Division plans to hold a public meeting about the fire on Monday night at the Grant County Convention Center in Silver City.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. The U.S. Forest Service says that some homes are threatened by the fire, which is burning along Highway 15.

Air tankers were spotted flying over the area on Monday morning, working to contain the fire. Campsites and private property in the area of Signal Peak have been evacuated.
