Just a little over a week ago, Albuquerque police were next door in front of Armand Martin's home in Ventana Ranch. Police say Martin fired shots from inside his home, shots they believe came from his window and into his neighbor's window just feet away.

Decorative tape that looks like it was put there by a child is covering a bullet hole.

Inside is the bedroom of an eight year old little girl.

A bullet came through the window, though the toy box and into the room where the neighbor's daughter and her little brother spend most of their time playing.

The kids were not in the house at the time but police say that's when they saw Martin as a threat and threw tear gas and flash bangs into the house.

Police say Martin came outside firing a gun in each hand. A SWAT team member shot and killed Martin in the driveway.

Since then, the neighbors next door say they are trying to get back to normal but they're keeping the tape there as a reminder of just how fragile life can be.
