Ask anyone and they'll tell you. Here, in New Mexico, we're known for our red and green chile. But ask a craft beer lover and they might say we're also becoming known for our beer.

It's an industry that continues to grow nationwide.

"Just celebrating all the great beer that we have in town," said Marne Gaston, co-creator of ABQ Beer Week.

That's exactly what the week-long event is all about. From tastings at local breweries to a beer fest at Sandia Casino, Marne is expecting about 8,000 people throughout it all. But don't think it's only attracting New Mexicans.

"We're seeing people that are doing beer vacations where they'll just, they'll go to different cities where there's a high concentration of highly rated beer and go visit the breweries and move on," said David Hargis, brewer at Tractor Brewing Company.

People from all over are flying in, staying in city hotels and eating at local restaurants, with all the money staying in Albuquerque.

"The demand is fantastic so people continue to embrace the craft beer industry more and more and the local community is a big part of that," Hargis said.
