State police say a 42-year-old Albuquerque man reported missing on Sunday was found dead on Tuesday evening.

Officers discovered Kevin Boulton's vehicle near the Taos Gorge off Rim Road around 5 p.m. A few hours later, Boulton was found dead in a ravine below a hiking trail.

Boulton's wife reported him missing after he failed to return home after a hiking trip. He told his brothers he was going to northern New Mexico, but did not give a specific location.

The circumstances surrounding Boulton's death are under investigation at this time.
