An Albuquerque mother who is expecting twins is scrambling to prepare a new home after a fire destroyed her apartment.

Aleeah Teasley is going to be a mother of twins Thursday.

"A boy and a girl," she said.

She's having a C-section. Teasley has been doing what most soon-to-be-mothers do: Nest-preparing a home for her newborns.

Sunday night, a fire started inside the apartment above hers at The Casa Bella Apartment complex.

Some neighbors think the fire was intentionally set by a tenant who recently received an eviction notice.

"I was in shock," she said, "I'm still in shock."

The fire came through the roof.

"My first thought was, oh, my gosh," she said, "My babies!"

Teasley and her parents got out safely.

"I don't know how I ran down the stairs with my stomach in the way," she said.

The fire, along with smoke and water, destroyed the future home for her newborns, including the baby items she worked so hard to collect.

"Car seats, diapers, new born clothes all gone," she said.

Teasley says what she really needs to raise her children is family, everything else can be replaced.

The Casa Bella Apartment Complex relocated Teasely and her family to another home and them in a hotel.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
