The Los Angeles Dodgers released catcher Miguel Olivo from their roster on Thursday, just two days after he got into a fight in the dugout with his Albuquerque Isotopes teammate Alex Guerrero. Olivo reportedly bit off part of Guerrero's ear during the altercation.

The fight took place during the Albuquerque Isotopes' game against the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday.

Alex Guerrero needed plastic surgery to repair his ear after the incident. Some early reports say Guerrero could be out for four weeks.

The Dodgers did not say if they released Olivo because of the fight. They now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
