Memorial Day weekend events in New Mexico

There are plenty of fun things to do with your family all over New Mexico this Memorial Day weekend:

Cannon Air Force Base Air Show and Open House
Saturday and Sunday, May 24-25

Cost: Free

Description: The 2nd annual Air Show and Open House is Saturday and Sunday.  It is free and will feature the Thunderbirds, Wings of Blue and many Cannon aircraft.

28th Annual Riverfest
Friday-Sunday, May 23-25
Animas and Berg Parks, Farmington
Cost: Free -but donations accepted for the River Reach Foundation

Description: Farmington kicks off the summer season with Riverfest. There's river raft rides, a car show, plenty of food, 5 and 10-K runs, even events for your dog.  The live music is free, but donations to the River Reach Foundation are accepted.

10th Annual Fly Freedom's Flag Boat Parade
Saturday, May 24
10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Elephant Butte Lake

Cost: Park Entrance Fee

Description: They'll be on the water at Elephant Butte this weekend too. The 10th Annual Fly Freedom's Flag Boat Parade is Saturday. A  P-O-W  M-I-A service kicks off at the Dame Site Restaurant patio at 10am. The boat parade begins at noon.

Rally in the Valley

Red River Convention Center

Cost: $25 Registration, Proceeds benefit Make a Wish of New Mexico

Description: New Mexico's Biggest Biker Event is also on Saturday. Our own Steve Stucker will lead motorcyclists through Red River for the 4th Annual Rally in the Valley. Registration for the ride and lunch starts at 8am. All the money raised benefits Make A Wish of New Mexico.

New Mexico Philharmonic Zoo Concert: Here's to the Heroes!

Description: Bring the whole family, and celebrate our heroes with a true red, white and blue night of great patriotic music! 19th Annual Silver City Blues Festival

Civil War in the West Tour

Cost: $2 (in addition to the $3 entrance fee)

Description: From Labor Day through Memorial Day, rangers offer three guided tours each week (one on Fridays, one on Saturdays, and one on Sundays) to share insights into the rich crossroads of history and culture at Pecos National Historical Park. Space is limited to 9 people on all van tours, so call for reservations in advance of the date you seek: 505-757-7241.

Description: The Fest is an all-day entertainment and food celebration that the whole family can enjoy. Southwest Sound Fest will feature popular musicians across all music genres from the Albuquerque metro, along with some of the Duke City’s most popular food trucks.

Description: Immediately following the parade, a remembrance ceremony honoring the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in military service to their country will take place at the Veterans Monument Park. The ceremony will begin at approximately 11 a.m. and consist of several different speakers.

Description: Please join us as we honor our veterans. The keynote speaker for this year is Joe Galloway.  Bring lawn chairs, blankets and beach towels since seating is in our outdoor amphitheater.

Sacrifice & Service: The American Military Family

Description: This inspiring exhibition celebrates America's rich military history through the voices of America's military families.
