RIO RANCHO -- Presbyterian Rust Medical Center plans to begin construction of a new patient tower that will temporarily reroute the current Emergency Department entrance on the west side of the hospital.

Starting May 27, patients will access the Emergency Department through the main entrance of the hospital, where they will be escorted or directed down a hallway. Parking will be available in the lots closest to the main entrance of the hospital and to the east of the Physician Office Building.

Patients experiencing a medical emergency should continue to call 911. Ambulance traffic will still have direct access into the Rust Emergency Department.

The current Emergency Department entrance is expected to reopen in March 2015.
