An Albuquerque teacher is using her love of music to teach her students sentence structure and even art.
Leah Rosales is a second grade teacher at Susie Rayos Marmon Elementary School. Her goal is simple: to make school exciting for her kids. But sometimes, lessons can be boring or confusing.
So lately, Leah has been using her love of music to make those subjects fun. When she senses confusion when she's teaching a lesson, Leah will go home and work on a song with her husband.
"I had told my husband, 'Oh, I have a job for you. I want you to come in and come up with some sort of cool school rap and bring it and show the kids, because it would make them excited about rhyming and rhythm," she said.
The song spread throughout campus, so naturally, a music video starring the school's choirs was next.
Leah hopes this project is just the beginning and she's already planning songs for next school year with that same goal in mind--making it fun.
"It's a huge opportunity now that we have to really branch out and show these kids how much fun school can be," she said.
