The metro has seen downpours off and on since Friday, but that didn't stop residents from getting out for the beginning of several Memorial Day weekend events.
At the Wine Festival at Balloon Fiesta Park, many people said the rain was a welcome change.
Last year, the weather was very hot for the event. But Saturday, the crowds started out small due to the rain.
"The rain brought a little delay for people coming in, but once it stopped, it started packing up. We're glad we got in," attendee Michael Mendoza said.
By evening, the wind was the bigger story in the metro, but storms are expected to continue through the night into Sunday.
