New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will appear in Artesia and Carlsbad later this week to help Gov. Susana Martinez raise money for the upcoming general election.
Christie is a phenomenal fundraiser for other Republicans, and Martinez is one of his favorites. She is even mentioned from time to time as a potential running mate should Christie snag the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. Both governors are former prosecutors. Christie campaigned for Martinez in September 2010, in Roswell, before her historic victory over Democrat Diane Denish that November. Martinez returned the favor last fall, campaigning for Christie’s re-election in New Jersey.
Christie was in Tampa, Florida late last week, campaigning for that state’s Republican governor in much the same style he will probably use for Martinez in New Mexico next Thursday.
“Fact is, I’m down here because this race is extraordinarily important,” Christie told a crowd in Tampa. “I don’t mean it’s politically important. It’s important for the men and women that work in a place like this, and their families.”
Will Christie say much the same thing in Carlsbad and Artesia? Bet the ranch on it.
