New fire restrictions go into effect in the metro area on Monday morning.

The stage II restrictions include no smoking, no campfires, no fireworks and no camping overnight in open-space areas around the Bosque and Sandia foothills.

Those caught violating these restrictions could be fined up to $500 or face jail time for up to 90 days.

If you see anyone breaking the rules, report it by calling (505)-242-2677.
