An Arizona inmate who escaped prison and then killed a couple from Oklahoma near Santa Rosa in 2010 has been sentenced to life in prison.

On Tuesday, John McCluskey was sentenced to life in prison followed by a consecutive term of 2,820 months for the murder of Gary and Linda Haas, a couple visiting New Mexico from Oklahoma.

Monday, two of his accomplices, Casslyn Welch and Tracy Province, were in court for their sentencing and were both sentenced to prison.

Province, who also escaped from prison, was sentenced to life in prison.

A judge wanted to give Welch, who helped the two escape, 40 years, but her attorney said 20 years was the deal for her testimony. The attorney was given two additional weeks to make that argument before the sentence is final.
