Challenger Scott Baird beat out incumbent Dan Houston for the Republican nomination in the Bernalillo County sheriff race.

Houston got almost 46 percent of the vote. Scott Baird took the lead with almost 48 percent. Jason Nufer took about 6 percent of the vote.

The Democratic ticket proved to be an extremely tight race as well. Sylvestor Stanley got 49.3 percent of the vote and Manuel Gonzalez ended up with 50.7 percent.

Stanley told KOB last night that he plans on asking for a review of the votes.
