A dairy farmer near McIntosh is dealing with a lot of expensive damage after a storm sent his barn airborne and destroyed a semi-truck trailer on his property.

Ed Lobaugh told KOB Eyewitness News 4 the storm hit just after 5 p.m. Tuesday. He said an extreme burst of wind lifted his animal barn in the air like a tarp and tossed a semi-truck trailer 200 feet - a nearby radio tower was snapped in half.

Lobaugh said no one was injured.

A small but potent storm was detected on Pinpoint 4 Doppler Radar at around the time of the damage. It appears that a strong downburst out of the thunderstorm created the damaging gusts.

The National Weather Service based in Albuquerque is working to confirm the exact cause.
