Boy flown to UNM Children's Hospital after a near drowing incident

A 5-year-old boy was flown to UNM Children’s Hospital Wednesday, after an apparent near drowning incident at Barranca Mesa Pool in Los Alamos.

Lifeguards pulled the boy from the pool and immediately began rescue efforts while police and ambulance crews were being dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival Los Alamos Fire Department took over resuscitation and transported the boy to Los Alamos Medical Center for treatment.

Life Flight was then dispatched and the boy was flown to UNM Children’s Hospital.

No details of how the accident occurred are available at this time and the child’s name has not been released. His current condition is not being released by the county.
