Officers Salvador Hurtado, John Cervantes and Sergeant Mark Velarde risked their lives on January 19 to save a woman's life.
Lapel camera video from one of the officer's that night showed a car in flames. The officers rush to save the woman inside.
That woman had just sped away from Officer Hurtado minutes before. He lost her for a few minutes, and when he found her again she had crashed into a light pole in a school parking lot.
The officers got her out, but one of the officers suffered second degree burns to his wrist.
Today, the officers behind the heroics act from that night have been recognized.
All 3 officers were this weeks "Friday's Heroes" and recognized by the City of Albuquerque.
Hurtado was the only officer able to make the event, but he wants to make sure that the others get the recognition as well, because without them, the woman trapped may have lost her life.
"It's an honor to be honored, but I have no doubt in my mind that any other officer in that situation would've done the same thing," Officer Hurtado said.
