A proposed mining zone near La Bajada Mesa has generated a lot of debate and controversy.

The decision has yet to be made, but it's being talked about Wednesday evening in front of a packed house at the Santa Fe Convention Center.

An Albuquerque company wants to drill for aggregate, which is used to build roads and bridges.

Back in March, a public hearing about the mine lasted about two and a half hours.

Almost all of the people who spoke were against it.
