Santa Fe police conduct 3 major drug busts in 2 days

SANTA FE -- In just two days, Santa Fe police arrested eight people, seized thousands of dollars in drug money and discovered nearly five pounds of marijuana and a pound of heroin.

On Wednesday,  Detectives arrested 21-year-old Antonio Romero, 21-year-old Virginia Miranda and a 17-year-old male in connection to a heroin trafficking case.

After serving two search warrants associated with this case at the 4300 block of Calle Andrew and 6800 block of Camino Rojo, the city's nuisance abatement team was called and violations were handed out when drug paraphernalia was found inside both residences. Further violations could result in liens on the properties.

On the same day, FBI agents and the Region III Drug Task Force arrested 34-year-old Antonio Lazalde-Molina, 23-year-old Daniel Enriquez-Garcia and 26-year-old Efren Bencomo on the 1200 block of Gallegos Lane. During the investigation, detectives found 21 ounces of heroin worth $18,000, five ounces of marijuana and a small amount of cocaine. All three face federal drug trafficking charges.

Thursday, two officers arrested 27-year-old Joshua Shultz and 23-year-old Adam Hirshey after finding nearly five pounds of bundled marijuana and $7,000 inside a home on West Booth Street. The suspects are both charged with distribution of a controlled substance and conspiracy.
