Rio Rancho residents are raising funds for a local teen who needs a lifesaving organ transplant.
In 1995, Melissa Varney was diagnosed with Hyperthropic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy. The doctors at Colorado Children's Hospital in Aurora have recommended she receive a heart transplant.
Rio Rancho volunteers are now raising an estimated $50,000 for the Children's Organ Transplant Association to help Varney's family pay for the procedure.
Those who are interested in helping with fundraising activities are asked to contact Will Steinsiek at (505)-385-3432 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Donations may be mailed to the Children's Organ Transplant Association to 2501 West COTA Drive, Bloomington, IN, 47403. Checks or money orders should be made payable to COTA, with "In Honor of Melissa V" written on the memo line of the check.
Secure credit card donations are also accepted online at www.COTAforMelissaV.com.
