The City of Santa Fe officially has a new police chief.

Eric F. Garcia was sworn in Monday morning in the Santa Fe City Hall at the Council Chambers.

Garcia has 24 years of law enforcement experience overall. He served as the public safety director for Espanola for the past two years before accepting the City of Santa Fe Police Chief position.

Some of his top priorities are to change officers' work weeks from five eight-hour shifts to four ten-hour shifts.

Garcia's main goals include improving overall morale and continually gaining community trust.
