The Albuquerque City Council is setting new public comment rules that will take effect at Monday night's meeting.

The rules stem from a protest where demonstrators took over a council meeting more than a month ago.

Anyone who wants to speak will need to register between 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting. The list is limited to 30 people.

If more than 30 people sign up, the remaining people will have to wait until the end of the meeting or speak at the next regular meeting.

Each person gets two minutes to speak.

Props and signs are not allowed except for use on the overhead projector.
