New Mexico is hoping to attract more visitors to our state. The Tourism Department has just released two new television ads that will run in major cities across the country.

The ads just started running in big cities like Dallas, Denver, Houston, Chicago and Phoenix. Soon they'll also be seen in San Diego and New York City, two new cities the department is adding to its list this season.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 asked tourists what they think about the ads.

"I think it would definitely grab people who want to do something different especially in the big cities and they want to get away for a little,” said DeAnna Willman, who was visiting Albuquerque from Texas. “I think that's an excellent ad."

One of the ads is aimed at families, while the other is targeted at couples. The ads show New Mexico’s beautiful landscapes, along with its culture.

"I liked it,” said Rachael Johnson, who was visiting from Minnesota. “It makes it fun and exciting to come to New Mexico."

The Tourism Department also released a new ad that's only running here in New Mexico. It’s meant to inspire state pride and encourage New Mexicans to get out and see all the great things our state has to offer.

"I like it. There are a lot of great places to see in New Mexico,” said Paul Poplett.

The ads will start running in New York City next spring.
