On Friday, July 4th, ABQ RIDE won’t have its regular fixed route. However, ABQ RIDE will take you to the City of Albuquerque’s Freedom Fourth celebration at Balloon Fiesta Park.
Bus service is planned to and from the celebration from two Park and Ride locations, one at St. Pius X High School and the other at Coronado Center.
Bus service to the celebration will begin at 3:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 pm. Return trips to the two Park and Rid locations will begin immediately after the celebration’s fireworks show. The last bus will leave at 11:00 p.m.
“Let us be your own personal service to Freedom Fourth and leave behind the hassle of driving,” said Bruce Rizzieri, Director of ABQ RIDE.
Pets, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, weapons, fireworks, and open containers will not be allowed at Balloon Fiesta Park or on the Park and Ride buses. BBQ grills, camp stoves, and pop-up tents are also not allowed. Coolers and picnic baskets are subject to search prior to loading onto the Park and Ride buses.
“Once again, I urge people to take the Park and Rides to Freedom Fourth and leave the fireworks to the professionals,” said Mayor Richard J. Berry. “It helps reduce fireworks-related problems on a very busy night for firefighters. “
Round-trip cost for riding the bus is:
Cash only. Exact change is needed and bus passes will not be honored for this event.
