LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico man is facing child abuse charges after deputies say he went "car surfing" with a teen on top of his vehicle.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office says 23-year-old Dominic Estrada was arrested Wednesday night following being spotted driving recklessly along a river levee.

According to deputies, Estrada drove under the influence of alcohol and spun in circles with a 14-year-old on top of the car.

He was charges with child abuse, reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. Officials say Estrada is being held on a $10,000 secured bond.

It was not known if Estrada had an attorney.
