New Mexicans are waking up to showers and thunderstorm activity in the east-central and southeast parts of the state on Wednesday.
Storms will fire up statewide, especially in western and central New Mexico, this afternoon and evening.
Many storms could be slow moving, which could cause localized flooding.
Hail and high winds could make some storms severe. Lightning will also be abundant and could still spark fires.
Good rain chances persist Thursday, but dwindle for Independence Day. Expect mostly lower rain chances and hotter temps into the holiday weekend.
