It may be empty now, but in a few hours, the field of Balloon Fiesta Park will be packed with patriotic New Mexicans, waiting for the big acts and the big fireworks show.
If you're one of the many who will be driving to the Freedom 4th event, you're likely worried about a possible traffic mess.
There is some good news. Construction on the I-25/Paseo Interchange is going to be suspended for the holiday weekend in hopes of easing any back-up in the area.
"Usually it's kind of jammed here when Paseo wasn't being worked on," said Rick De Reyes with ABQ Ride.
Don't even think about taking Jefferson, either. It'll be closed north of Paseo Del Norte.
The only vehicles that will be allowed on the road will be the buses from ABQ Ride.
There will be two Park and Ride locations for people not wanting to drive to the park. One is at the Coronado Center parking lot off San Pedro near Menaul. The other will be at St. Pius High School.
The buses will be running from 3PM-8PM on the 4th.
Prices for the Park and Ride range from nothing for kids nine and under to a buck for adults. If you decide to drive to "Freedom 4th", we've posted routes that will be available to you. Click here for more: http://www.cabq.gov/culturalservices/things-to-do/annual-events/freedom-fourth
