So far this Fourth of July holiday weekend, the Albuquerque Fire Department says they've received more calls about illegal fireworks in 2014 than they did last year.

AFD received 72 reports of illegal fireworks on July 3. On the same day in 2013, AFD says they received 64 calls.

"We hope citizens continue to refrain from buying and discharging illegal fireworks," Fire Chief David Downey said. "Let's celebrate Independence Day safely."

To report illegal fireworks on July 4 and 5, call (505)-833-7335. The city of Albuquerque says those who are caught will be cited and will have a mandatory court appearance.
