It was a big celebration Friday for the grand opening of Roswell’s Veteran’s Cemetery.
Hundreds came out for the official opening of the city's first cemetery for veterans. 23 veterans were buried there Friday.
The cemetery is located right next to the city's current cemetery and is named after Gen. Douglas l. McBride. McBride served our country for 37 years and his family donated the land in his memory.
"It’s great, their all so happy they have a place to be buried at home. You know from our youngest veterans to our oldest veterans, it means the world to them," said Veteran’s Cemetery President, Bert Eldrige.
The cemetery has been three years in the making. The cemetery was also made possible thanks to another man, Ray Willis. He donated over $20,000 for cremation walls.
