A 24-year-old Berino woman was arrested Saturday morning after she allegedly stabbed her younger sister during an altercation.
According to court documents, Laura Del Hierro had been arguing with her 20-year-old sister when the confrontation escalated. A third sister told investigators Del Hierro grabbed the victim by her hair and dragged her outside.
When authorities arrived, they say they found the victim on the kitchen floor, suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen. When asked if Del Hierro was responsible, the victim reportedly gave a "thumbs up" sign to sheriff's deputies. She was reported to be hospitalized in stable condition after surgery to remove her spleen and repair a kidney.
Deputies say the suspect fled the scene but was arrested with the help of Anthony Police Officers a short time later. Del Hierro is held on suspicion of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and tampering with evidence.
She is being held on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
