Bernalillo County on Monday celebrated the grand opening of a new playground for kids with disabilities.

La Ladera Inclusive Playground is the first fully integrated playground for children with all levels of ability.

Bernalillo County invested more than $180,000 dollars to create the playground at the La Ladera Park in the North Valley, located at 7807 Edith Blvd NE.

Improvements include new sensory play equipment like bongos, bells, chimes, mirrors, mazes and kaleidoscope prisms. They especially help children with autism and other sensory processing disorders.

The park also features an accessible OmniSpin Spinner, Oodle Swing and molded bucket seat swing to accommodate children with physical disabilities

KOB Eyewitness News 4 will have an inside look at the playground tonight at 5 p.m.
