Police in Roswell believe a serial arsonist is on the loose.

Whomever it is struck again, forcing a dozen people to escape their homes in the middle of the night.

Seven people were asleep inside a home when someone set fire to a car in the driveway.

“It was close,” said Mark Barrientos.  “By the time we were exiting the house flames were already in the house, smoke was pretty bad."

Everyone got out safely, including an elderly woman in a wheelchair. Three dogs, however, did not.

“It’s destroyed,” said Barrientos. “We got this remodeled about a year ago, handmade cabinets, brand new everything in here. It's destroyed you got the water coming down, you can see the sun through the roof. It's ridiculous."

The fire spread to the house next door.

“The inside of the roof is damaged, the side of the fence is, the laundry room door,” said Steven Hernandez.

Hernandez says all five people asleep inside at the time escaped.

Fire investigators believe this may have been set by a serial arsonist.  They say this car fire shares a number of similarities to other car fires they've seen.

15 of them in Roswell alone, in just the past eight months.

Investigators say someone is randomly torching cars parked in driveways.

“Hopefully we can catch him because before it was just cars, but this time it could have been people," said Hernandez.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who has any information.
