Albuquerque Public Schools plans to host a job fair for high-need positions.

The job fair will take place on Wednesday, July 23 from 2-5 p.m. at the Alice & Bruce King Education Complex (the district’s administrative offices) at 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE.

Some of the positions include special education, math, science and bilingual teachers; school nurses and counselors; custodians and substitute teachers.

The job fair is for new employees only. To help expedite the hiring process, those planning to attend are asked to go online and fill out an application in advance.

The online applications can be found at  Applicants should bring copies of their resume and license to the job fair.

APS has openings for more than 330 teachers, 130 of which are special education teachers. About half of the elementary school teaching positions require endorsements in bilingual or TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

The district also needs nine school nurses and nearly two dozen counselors, though many of the counseling positions are part-time at elementary schools and can be combined with a second school to create full-time positions.
