New Mexico residents have the chance to win $5,000 in a new contest that's out of this world.
Lockheed Martin and the New Mexico Film Foundation have teamed up to offer filmmakers the chance to create a short film.
They’re asking you to submit an essay, or storyboard with an idea for a 3-5 minute short film with the theme of human deep space exploration. The winner gets $5,000 to create the short film.
The contest will be judged by The New Mexico Film Foundation and space industry experts including astronaut Bruce McCandless.
“New Mexico has always been on the cutting edge of space exploration, and involved in the development of America’s Space Program,” said New Mexico Film Foundation President Dirk Norris. “I believe the stories New Mexico filmmakers tell about this exciting topic will be inspiring to everyone who sees them.”
The submission process will begin on July 15th and close August 15th. The winner will be announced on August 29th. The winning filmmaker will work with Lockheed Martin to complete their film no later than November 15th.
