The first four busloads of undocumented immigrants who were housed in Artesia have been deported, an official with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed Monday.

Spokesperson Marsha Catron said approximately 40 adults with children were returned to Honduras by ICE officials.

The immigrants were bused to Roswell and put on a plane Monday morning.

"We expect additional migrants will be returned to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador in the coming days and weeks, based on the results of removal proceedings or expedited removal," Catron wrote to KOB.

More than 81,995 immigrants fled from Central America and made their way to the U.S. Hundreds of them have been staying at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia.
