A serial arsonist has struck 16 cars and three houses. Now people in Roswell are sleeping with one eye open. However, something a witness saw could help them get closure and rest.
It’s a quiet neighborhood, family friendly, and calm. But that peacefulness was shattered last week when someone set a car on fire in a driveway, in the middle of the night, that spread to two homes. A dozen people had to escape. Now, no one knows if or when the arsonist will strike their home.
“Nervous,” said Luz Muro.
"Scared," said Nicole Sutherland.
Sutherland lives a few houses down. After all this, she’s having trouble sleeping.
“It's really scary right now because every little noise I hear I wake up," said Sutherland.
Investigators say they need help. They don’t know if it was one person or a group of people, but according to some neighbors, there was some suspicious activity going on that night before the fire.
“He started running and they followed him and one of the guys saw his face," said Muro.
Muro says she saw someone suspicious outside her house that night. However, he left, returned, and started doing something strange.
“Well when I looked through the window, he was banging on my car," said Muro.
That was just hours before the fire ripped through her neighbor’s home.
“It could have been my house, the house right here, or anybody’s houses," said Muro.
And these people say they won’t have peace until the arsonist is caught.
"He needs to be caught so this does not happen to nobody else," said Abel Hernandez.
“Honestly, we do need to catch him before he does it to someone innocent again,” said Sutherland.
