3 people killed in medical helicopter crash identified

New Mexico State Police have released the names of the three people who died in a medical helicopter crash in Guadalupe County on Thursday.

David Cavigneaux, 46, of Rio Rancho, Rebecca Serkey, 29 of Rio Rancho and James Butler, 46, of Albuquerque were inside the Careflight helicopter when it crashed north of Newkirk, New Mexico, just after 2:30 a.m.

The crew was headed to the Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari to pick up a patient.  

The cause of the crash is still an ongoing joint investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transpiration Safety Board.
