Politics and posters have always gone hand in hand. The photographs or artwork can leave a powerful impression of the candidate. So KOB was a little curious about a Susana Martinez poster.  It's not necessarily the most flattering picture.

KOB’s Nicole Brady took a closer look and found out if Gov. Martinez should be at all concerned about "Oh Susana."

It's a sketch comedy show with comedic look at life in New Mexico, but KOB talked to the creator and asked if he's trying to stir up any controversy.

“We wanted something that would grab people's attention,” said Cody Dove.

Right off the bat, Dove admits the picture was intentional.

“It shows her I think in a very gubernatorial manner and then the background we have some chile and roadrunners to balance out the whole thing,” he said.

Dove points out this show isn't just about "Susana" it's all things New Mexico. The Farmington native describes it as a "barbed wire love letter" to his home state.

“It’s such a unique weird place to live and function, and it almost wrote itself,” Dove said.

The performers of "Oh Susana" all play several roles. Many based on real New Mexicans, not just the governor.

Al Unser makes an appearance.  Along with places like Carlsbad caverns, the VLA , balloon fiesta  and with it Steve Stucker.

As for the rest of us local newscasters we’re not mentioned by name, but the show makes fun of us too.

But it's more than just mocking. Dove hopes audiences will feel some pride for our unique state.

“We’re true to New Mexico because this is our home,” he said.

And of course he would love to spot the governor in the audience.

“I don't want to give too much away about how we handle it. But it's a fun way that we send up our governor that I think even her office and the governor herself will be like. ‘Oh... That's pretty clever’,” said Dove.

Performances take place every Friday and Saturday at The Box Performance Space and Improv Theatre on 100 Gold Ave. SW. Show begins at 9:00 p.m.

The show been postponed until Aug. 1st. However, tickets for the next performance can be purchased at
