More than 2.50" inches of rain fell in the University of New Mexico area Friday night.

Some of that rain caused flooding on campus and forced the Centennial Science and Engineering Library to close.

UNM officials said more than 50 shelves worth of materials were damaged in the underground library as rain entered underneath doors and fell from the stairs.

Those items will be frozen and sent to a center in Texas for restoration.

It's unclear when Centennial Library will reopen. The remaining libraries on campus remain open to students and faculty.
