A retired Farmington detective who was assigned to investigate crimes against children claims the department has ignored hundreds of those cases.

Frank Dart says he was retaliated against after he accused the department of allowing these cases to fall through the cracks. He took the allegations to court Tuesday.

"I can tell you for a fact that there were hundreds of cases that the Farmington police department were reported by CYFD, but were never investigated and have never been investigated to this day," he said.

Dart says he asked his superiors for extra resources. According to Dart's lawsuit, he was demoted after that.

Lawyers for the police department have publicly stated they have no documentation that supports Darts's requests for additional resources.

According to Dart's attorney, Dart was awarded $204,000 in his case against the Farmington Police Department.
